HERITAGE & CULTURE
We curate and preserve the historical archives of MAIRE: a precious documentary heritage, one of a kind among Italian business archives and a rarity among the archives of the world's most important Engineering Companies, declared to be of historical interest by the Archival Superintendence for Piedmont and the Aosta Valley. Our archives can be consulted on the archival heritage portal of the Piedmont Region.
The restoration of historical drawings
We are curating a restoration project of 108 archival units consisting of folded plans and drawings, including some pieces of great historical significance.
Our historical equipment
The old work tools of architects and engineers tell a piece of our country's industrial history.
Our Foundation also oversees the management of the digital vault, an IT platform where some 20,000 drawings, plans, and documents from MAIRE's historical archive have been digitalized. This platform makes it possible to access materials effectively and quickly by cross-referencing descriptive categories, metadata, terminology, chronological information, and tags.
The archive speaks volumes
The materials preserved in our historical archives have inspired ten stories leading us on an evocative journey of discovery.
MAIRE Foundation in support of the arts
The Foundation supports a series of projects aimed at enhancing the creativity of young artists focused on the themes of sustainability and the energy transition.
Second Life Contest
We support the Second Life contest, promoted by Alia Multiutility Toscana and dedicated to young artists and the theme of sustainability and the circular economy. Two editions of the Prize have already taken place, with a total of over 200 artists involved, 60 pieces of artwork selected overall, and 2 exhibitions touring Italy, which were also hosted by the Foundation at the MAIRE headquarters in Milan in 2022 and at the headquarters in Rome in September 2023.
We support the EvolveArt contest, sponsored by the Friends of the Arts High School Biennial Association and dedicated to students of Italian artistic high schools focusing on the theme of the energy and ecological transition.
AIPAI Photo Contest
We support the 2023 AIPAI Photo Contest organized by the Italian Association of Industrial Archaeological Heritage AIPAI, for the promotion of Italy's historic industrial heritage. As part of this initiative, we have launched the "Young Talent Patrons Award": one non-professional photographer under the age of 35 will be selected among the participants of the Contest and offered a work contract with the purpose of creating a photographic campaign dedicated to the historical and archival heritage of our Foundation.
Join us in supporting the Foundation's projects for historic-archival preservation.
